NATUROPATHY:
Aims to treat the whole person, rather than merely alleviating symptoms of
disease. Naturopathy supports the body's own healing processes to
alleviate symptoms and also treat the cause of the problem. This form of
treatment offers natural, non-invasive healing techniques to bring the
body back into harmony. This often means dietary and lifestyle changes.
VEGA TESTING:
Works by
measuring the resistance at an acupuncture point, the patient simply holds
a probe in one hand while the practitioner measures the acupuncture point
on the other hand, creating an electrical circuit. If a substance is put
through the machine your body doesn’t like the resistance at the
acupuncture point will drop, and we can measure this, similar to
kinesiology. We test for some chemicals, viruses, toxins, malfunctioning
organs, food or other allergies and many other biological disturbances.
HERBAL MEDICINE:
Is one of
the oldest types of medicine used. The healing qualities of herbs have
been used in different therapeutic philosophies throughout history. It is
a gentle and non-invasive method of treatment. Herbal tinctures are
prepared specifically for the individual.
HOMOEOPATHIC MEDICINE:
Encompasses a safe system of medicinal therapy that stimulates and
controls the body’s own defence mechanisms to bring about the
reinstatement of health and improvement in general wellbeing. The
fundamental principle being the biological law of similars: i.e.
"like cures like".
HAIR MINERAL ANALYSIS:
Hair
analysis is a powerful diagnostic tool, used in conjunction with
assessment of symptoms, physical condition, lifestyle etc. a sample of
hair taken from the nape of the neck is analysed to determine exposure to
heavy metal and other potentially toxic chemicals.
SPORTS MASSAGE:
For those muscular aches and pains from sporting and non-sporting injuries
to relieve stress and tension. Michael specializes in trigger point
therapy, back and neck pain and stress management.
Massage Therapys
Acupressure is part of Chinese Traditional Medicine and is often described as acupuncture without the needles. Deep finger pressure is applied at certain points and can reduce tension, increase circulation and offer pain relief for many complaints and removes energy blockages to promote good health. These points follow the energy channels of the body's meridian lines. Acupressure encompasses the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit.
Aromatherapy is the art of applying essential oils combined with relaxation massage to improve physical and emotional well-being. The essential oils have been extracted from various parts of certain plants. They are easily absorbed through the skin with a gentle caring massage by a professional aromatherapist. Essential oils work on a physical, mental and emotional level. The selected essential oils and base massage oil are combined to create a unique mix for each persons needs. The oils can also be used in oil burners for inhalation or in the bath to provide theraputic outcomes.
Chinese Massage (ANMA) is the most common form of acupressure practiced in China and is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupoints are stimulated with fingers, thumbs, feet and knees. The client remains dressed and experiences a vigorous body massage using techniques such as rubbing, kneading and rolling to recharge the body's energy levels. This can be done on a floor, mat or table. Specialising in injury repair and curing illness, Anma massage can also maintain your health by adjusting your Qi so it flows smoothly, removes blockages and stagnations caused by injuries, exercise and or aging.
Cupping is used to expel toxins from areas of pain and tightness and uses glass cups, held by suction to massage the body. The action on the nervous system can be sedating and the client can experience a deep state of relaxation. Traditionally the cups are placed on the back, sholders and lower back. After treatment clients can experience a feeling of lightness and flexability in the area that was ceating pain or range of movement restrictions. Cupping can be either stationary or in massage. Stationary cups are left on the skin for 5-15 minutes to facilitate the release of stagnant blood, pathogenic factors and dispel intrnal heat. Massage cupping uses oil so the cup can glide over the skin to release tension and conjestion in the muscles. Most cupping proceedures will create a red to dark-red circle on the skin but will disappear within a week. Other conditions that respond well to cupping include: fibromyalgia, anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain, sciatica and asthma.
Myofascial Release Therapy is a very gentle yet very effective hands-on manual therapy using sustained pressure into restrictions in the fascial system to eliminate pain and restore motion and function to the body. The therapy is based on the principle that poor posture, physical injury, illness and emotional stress can shift the body out of alignment and cause the intricate web if fascia to become tight and constricted. Fascia is a system of thin connective tissue that weaves continuously throughout the body including the muscles, bones, organs, arteries, veins etc. It connects every part of the body to every other part of the body. Adhesions and scar tissue may also be broken down with myofascial release therapy.
Polarity works with the human energy field, electromagnetic patterns expressed in mental, emotional and physical experience. In Polarity therapy, health is viewed as a reflection of the condition of the energy field, and theraputic methods are designed to balance the field for health benefit. The term Polarity refers to the universal pulsation of expansion/ contraction or repulsion/attraction known as Yang and Yin in Oriental therapies. Similarly, Polarity Therapy integrates the Three Principles and Five Chakras of Aryvedic tradition, and has been called the modern manifestation of ancient Hermetic Philosophy. At the same time Polarity therapy also enjoys rich ties to modern science, which has confirmed its essential theme of energetic relationship as the basis of all phenomena.
Qi-Gong Therapy is a highly effective theraputic type of bodywork that utilizes (universal) external and (emitted) internal Qi(the vital energy or the universal essencewhich flows through the human body and all living things.) It is based on the same systems used in acupuncture, oriental medicine and many other body work therapies. Qi-Gong therapy is highly effective in relieving body aches, pains and illnesses and is an excellent way to relieve chronic pain and aid healing of all kinds of health conditions. It is also enjoyable and rejuvenating therapy for those who feel generally well.
Trigger Point Myofascial trigger points are tiny knots that develop in a muscle when it is injured or overworked. the defining symptom of a trigger point is reffered pain; that is trigger points usually send their pain to some other site. This is the reason conventional treatments of pain so often fail. It's a mistake to assume that the problem is at the cause of place that hurts! Clinical research has shown that trigger points re the primary cause of painseventy percent of the time and are at least a part of nearly every pain problem.Trigger Points cause headaches, neck and jaw pain, low back pain, tennis elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome. They are the scource of the pain in such joints as the sholder, wrist, knee and ankle that is so often mistaken for arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis or sinusitis, nausea, heartburn, false heart pain, heart arrythmia, genital pain and numbness in the hands and feet. Even fibromyalgia may have its beginnings with trigger points.
Remedial Massage / Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body, though slow stokes and deeper finger pressure on the contracted areas, by either following or crossing over the muscle fibres, fascia and tendons. Usually used to address specific problems associated with chronic muscular pain, injury rehabilitations, sporting and occupational injuries, RSI,and physical and mental fatigue. The techniques can include trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage and stretching thereby creating an improved range of motion through the joints. It's important to drink plenty of water after a deep-tissue session to help eliminate toxins from the body.
PERSON-CENTERED COUNSELLING creates a healing partnership where the client explores problems and difficulties through empathy and reflective listening. The client decides on the strategies to address the problem with assistance from the councilor.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL COUNSELLING is a therapy that many clients find useful to help change thoughts, feelings and behaviour in a systematic, measurable way.
TRANSPERSONAL COUNSELLING is a therapy that helps clients explore life's 'bigger issues' such as spirituality, the meaning of one's life and coming to terms with loss. It uses approaches such as creative work, story and ritual.
